The Properties dialog

The Properties Dialog controls your user and server settings.

The User tab is used to enter details about yourself:

Properties, user

The Full Name and Alias fields must be entered, and must be unique for the server.

If permitted by the server settings, you may change the user name and password by pressing the appropriate button.

The Remote tab control message transfer to other systems (e.g. E-Mail or Mobile Phone):

Properties, settings

Check "Allow..." to send a copy of received messages to the remote system. You may chose to forward messages only when offline, always or never.

Note that this requires the Enterprise version of MiniPoint.

The Server tab controls how you access the MiniPoint server:

Properties, server

Usually, you only need to set the correct MiniPoint Server address here.

If you need to cross a firewall and/or Proxy server, you may also have to change other options.

The default connect type is "Push, Light", which is optimal on internal LANs with it's light UDP communication. On Internet or WAN, it may be necessary to use "Push, Connect" or "Pull (HTTP)" instead, using the more reliable TCP protocol.

The "Pull Interval" is used by "Pull (HTTP)", specifying how often (in minutes) the client checks for new messages on the server.

"Ping Interval" must be entered if you are on a NAT network (e.g. behind a home/SOHO Router).

If you are connected to an external MiniPoint Server, going through a Proxy, you must enter proxy name/port. If the proxy requires authentication, your proxy user name and password must be entered in the MiniPoint configuration file, see client parameters.

The Other tab controls miscellaneous client options:

Properties, other

Select "Discrete Mode" if you do not want MiniPoint to lift the message window to the top.
